This issue of NOLA EXPRESS featured the first appearance of The Cat in the Closet by Charles Bukowski.
The story would remain uncollected until 2010’s Absence of the Hero.
According to A Catalog of Ordinary Madness by Abel Debritto, the story was “first submitted to Fling magazine as part of the ‘Hairy Fist Tales series’ but it was rejected because there was not enough ‘far-out sex’.”
There is also an advertisement for the newspaper announcing Bukowski’s recent departure from the Post Office.
This copy is in Very Good condition with the usual small tears. The pages show minimal aging and are still quite bright.
