Dear Mr. Bukowski: German Limited Edition (1/100), Drawings by Charles Bukowski
This is one of the most unique, sought-after items among Charles Bukowski collectors.
Published in 1979, this is the first (and only) German edition of Dear Mr. Bukowski.
Only 100 of these were created. The set is made up of a fictional envelope and letter, and 10 individual silkscreen drawings by Bukowski. The drawings are an attempt to describe the question in the letter: “What we are wondering is what is your typical day like?”
Prior to this German edition, there was an American edition published by Black Sparrow Press that was limited to 50 copies. This German edition is nearly identical, but the drawings are slightly reduced in size (4” x 5.5”). The language remains in English.
Note: There are a small number of bootlegs out there. The easiest way to identify them is that they have no lining in the envelope. I have to say, though, the quality of the cards is about equal if you can get one of those cheaper.
The envelope is in near fine condition with some minor wrinkles, The color is bright. The interior drawings and letter (which is folded to fit the envelope) are all in mint condition.
