Jeopardy Vol. 6 -- Excerpts from "Short Non-Moon Shots to Nowhere" by Charles Bukowski (1970)
Published in 1970, Jeopardy Vol. 6, is a rare journal featuring a curious description of the Bukowski poems included in the issue.
Four of the poems are described as excerpts from "Short Non-Moon Shots to Nowhere." Three of the four would later appear in Mockingbird Wish Me Luck (1972) and the fourth one appears not to have been published again.
Perhaps "Short Non-Moon Shots to Nowhere" was a working title Bukowski used at the time. There is no record of it ever being published.
There are six Bukowski poems total:
The White Poets
The Black Poets
Eighteen (excerpt from "Short Non-Moon Shots to Nowhere")
Fourteen (excerpt from "Short Non-Moon Shots to Nowhere")
Nine (excerpt from "Short Non-Moon Shots to Nowhere")
Seven (excerpt from "Short Non-Moon Shots to Nowhere")
Sixteen (excerpt from "Short Non-Moon Shots to Nowhere")
Both The White Poets and The Black Poets were collected in Mockingbird Wish Me Luck (1972) and captured on the recordings, Hello. It's good to be back (1978) Solid Citizen (2004), and Thomas Schmitt film, 1978 Hamburg (2015).
Eighteen (excerpt from "Short Non-Moon Shots to Nowhere") was captured on the recording Bukowski at Bellevue (1988).
Fourteen (excerpt from "Short Non-Moon Shots to Nowhere") does not appear to have been published again.
Excerpts Nine, Seven and Sixteen appeared in Mockingbird Wish Me Luck (1972).
This copy is in Very Good ++ condition with scratches and slight browning to the covers.
An intriguing issue of this literary publication produced by the student body of Western Washington State College.
