This is the funeral card for those invited to Charles Bukowski’s memorial service, which took place on Monday, March 14, 1994, at Green Hills Mortuary Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
It consists of a single sheet of paper folded twice, with printing on four pages. Folded, it measures 5.25’ x 3.25”.
The second page features an excerpt from Bukowski’s classic poem, If We take. The poem was published as the 1970 Black Sparrow Press New Years Greeting and appeared in four Bukowski collections and three magazines over the years.
This copy came from the estate of Red Stodolsky, owner of Baroque Book Store and a close friend of Charles Bukowski. Knowing Red, he probably grabbed a few to sell at his shop.
It comes with an 8”x10” photograph of Charles Bukowski’s gravestone, which also came from Red’s estate.
The funeral card and photograph are in Fine condition.
