This was the final issue of Wormwood Review, published 2 years after editor Marvin Malone passed away.

Each cover was hand-colored by Malone’s daughter Christa. The heart in one of the 2 Bukowski drawings was also hand colored.

Malone published Wormwood Review from 1961 to 1996, working with over 750 poets in 142 issues of the magazine.

While Malone is credited with promoting many famous poets, no one was bigger than Charles Bukowski.

Bukowski made his first appearance in issue 7 (October 20, 1962) and from that point on had 2-4 poems in just about every issue. Wormwood also devoted center sections and entire issues to Bukowski.

Daughter Christa Malone was the editor of this issue and she had already returned Bukowski’s poems to his wife, but 2 Charles Bukowski drawings are included.

Almost every contributor also mentions Bukowski in one form or another. Contributors include Steve Richmond, Lyn Lifshin, Gerald Locklin, and many others.

Filled with poetry, historical articles, and an interview with Malone, as well as poems by Malone himself, this is a must-have for any Bukowski, Wormwood, or poetry fan. Laid in is a small poem by Peter Bakowski.

This copy is in fine condition and is hand number 539 out 600 copies.

Wormwood Review was published by the legendary Marvin Malone (1930-1996). Malone was a pharmacologist, scientific researcher, educator, artist, poetry collector, and editor. Upon arrival to Storrs, Connecticut in 1960, Malone discovered the second issue of Wormwood Review and soon took over the publication as the sole editor, publisher, and designer (alias A. Sypher), producing quarterly issues until his death in 1996.
