This is a short, sweet one that Bukowski probably wrote on the spur of the moment in his kitchen on Carlton Way.
The manuscript is signed by Bukowski and dated “1-20-75”.
It looks like Bukowski started out with the title “B” but added “ee” later by hand in blue ink.
The poem would finally be collected 42 years later in Storm for the Living and the Dead (2017).
It was folded twice for mailing, but the creases are very light. Overall, the paper is clean with no tears or marks.
The manuscript comes with a serigraph that appeared in Charles Bukowski’s book, "Bone Palace Ballet". The serigraph measures 9.5” x 6.5” and is very vibrant. Image size is approximately 4.5" x 5.5" and is printed on heavy stock. (Please note this is a printed signature, not hand-signed).
