Probably the most unattractive nude models I’ve ever seen in the most unattractive positions, the November 1986 issue of Fling features the Charles Bukowski short story, The Cheese Bit.

What’s especially great about this story are the illustrations that accompany the story by the legendary Spain Rodriguez, one of the most important artists in the underground comix movement.

Rodriguez was one of the original Zap Comix artists with Robert Crumb, a hard-charging biker, and class warfare revolutionary. He influenced generations of cartoonists and illustrators with a gritty, in-your-face approach to urban life. Bukowski and Spain met at least once at a party in the early 1970s. Bukowski challenged Spain to a fight, but backed down when Spain took him up on the offer. Bukowski later wrote a poem about it called, "trouble with spain."

This short story appears to be uncollected in any Charles Bukowski books.

The magazine is in Near Fine condition with some light general wear with some light wear to the covers.

Fling was another attempt to follow Hugh Hefner’s success. It was founded in 1957 by Relim Publishing Company out of Chicago. Bukowski short stories appeared in at least 10 issues of Fling between 1970-1986.
