In 1984, an ambitious short film was created based on the Charles Bukowski short story, “The Killers”. It was made by KAZENMAIER-MORLOCK-ROTH Productions.

What’s very different about this film is that Bukowski was actually in it. The opening scene shows Bukowski in a boxcar doing a voiceover as a way to set up what follows.

I had never heard of the film, never mind seen it. This was pre-internet, so as far as I know, it can’t be found on YouTube or anywhere else.

This package is made up of several items, including the shooting script and an invitation to the premier.

But the real highlight are two Bukowski still shots of the opening scene.

I acquired the photographs in two batches over the course of a couple of years.

The first batch are the ones with the ink stamps in German. Four out of five of these are in portrait format.

The second batch came with the script and the invitation. These photographs have information in English on the back on labels and seven out of nine are horizontal prints.

I believe one of the producers was German and the photos with the ink stamps may have been intended for promotional purposes in Germany.

In addition to the Bukowski photographs, one photo shows the director storyboarding out a scene on the boxcar wall.

All the photographs measure approximately 7” x 9” and are in excellent condition.

An extremely rare offering with two great Bukowski photographs.
