"Conversation In A Cheap Room" was first published in the Galley Sail Review, Vol. 2, No. 2, in June 1960.

This classic poem would later appear in Longshot Pomes for Broke Players (1961), It Catches My Heart In Its Hands (1963), A Bukowski Sampler (1969), and The Roominghouse Madrigals (1988).

There is also a 1962 audio recording of the poem by Bukowski that was collected in "Poetry of Charles Bukowski", distributed by KPFK.

This issue also has a few interesting period advertisements, including City Lights and Hearse, which published Bukowski's first book.

Contributors include Charles Bukowski, Diane Wakoski, John Barkley Hart, Carol Christopher Drake, Pierre Henri Delattre, Alvaro Cardona-Hine, Zack Walsh, Charles Angoff, Emilie Glen et al.

This copy is in Near Fine condition with a pencil note on the top-left corner and a touch of sunning to the spine.

A very uncommon issue of this poetry journal edited by Stanley McNail out of San Francisco.
