The Cockroach Hotel (1/500) with Charles Bukowski Introduction
The Cockroach Hotel is an oversized chapbook with poems by William Hageman, a member of the "Meat Poetry" school and the editor of "The Willie" out of San Francisco.
Charles Bukowski wrote a one-page intro of the book, which he didn’t do for many writers. Doug Blazek also wrote a forward.
The Cockroach Hotel was published by Black Rabbit Press, San Francisco, 1968. It has oversized (11” x 8.5”) illustrated stapled wrappers with silkscreens bound in. The cover is from a drawing by Grady M. Jones and includes very nice silkscreens by Tom L. Kryss.
One of 500, this copy is in near fine condition with a crease to the lower-right cover that travel through the issue, and a bump on the lower right. There is some light gray spotting on the back cover, but I’m told that was from the original printing when they stacked the heavily inked covers.
Difficult to find with the rear cover still attached due to the short staples used.
