Published ECW Press in 1997, The Buk Book is a great little has great little vignettes about about Charles Bukowski and contains 22 original photographs that we never published again.
The photographs, by Claude Powell, appear to show a night of heavy drinking followed by a fetal-looking Bukowski the following morning. Tina Darby, wife of Brad Darby and a local stripper, stopped by and models for some compromising photos with Bukowski. The first photograph in the book is a naked Darby with Bukowski’s hand in the nether region, which girlfriend Linda King ripped up when seeing.
It’s a small book, measuring approximately 6.75” x 7.75" and has French Flaps.
I wouldn’t call it a biography, but the 87 pages are filled with great little stories about Bukowski. The writing is sharp, crisp, and on point.
This copy is in Near Fine + condition with a few scratches on the coating of the covers that can only be seen when held under a light.
From the communication to the careful packaging and surprises, I am impressed with the service of this independent shop in the Carolinas. This is the place for a budding or wise Buk collector.
