Published by marjo BOOKs in 2014, Tales of an Ancient Go-Go Girl is a memoir by Joan Jobe Smith that touches on her relationship with Charles Bukowski as well as Bukowski’s girlfriend at-the-time, Linda King. There are a lot of interesting tidbits in the book and some perspectives on Bukowski that’s not published elsewhere.

Smith has written a few other books about Bukowski, was the editor of PEARL magazine in which Bukowski appeared in several issues, and was the founder of The Bukowski Review.

This copy is near fine condition and is signed by Smith on the title page.

From the Publisher:
Rarely does a natural poet and historian such as Joan Jobe Smith endure such ordeals and challenges and survive to tell the tale. This is a picaresque True Tale spanning the 1965 Los Angeles Watts Riots, near death at the hands of a homicidal ex-husband, the counterculture go-go swinging let-it-all-hang-out 1960s and 70s, single Motherhood and Feminism. A Tale that ends with her dancing to Doors’ guitarist Robby Krieger in 2014. A Tale told with heart and courage and humor to make all our lives richer and wiser.
