“Aftermath of a Lengthy Rejection Slip” was Bukowski’s first published piece. It appeared in Story magazine in 1944, when Bukowski was a young man surviving on candy bars and barely making the rent.

By the time 1983 rolled around, Bukowski had dozens of books published in the U.S., and Europe. In that year, Blackrose Editions republished “Aftermath of a Lengthy Rejection Slip” in an edition of 150 signed copies. This is #34.

Bukowski has also added his classic Little Man with a Bottle sketch.

This is a very large chapbook, measuring 10.5" x 14.5" and printed on thick, high-quality archival paper with a deckled edge.

It is a single page, folded in half to make four pages.

The fourth page is a previously unpublished short story titled, “About Aftermath,” in which Bukowski tells the tale of his first published piece.

This copy is in Near Fine + condition.
