Barfly, Black Sparrow Press First Edition, Softcover (1987)

Published in 1987 to coincide with the film, this is a softcover copy of the screenplay got Barfly, by Charles Bukowski. There are definitely difference between the Paget Press (1984) and Barfly versions, Bukowski continue to refine the screenplay during the three years between the two books.

Rather than Bukowski drawings, the 1987 version includes photographs shot during the making of the film by photographers Michael Montfort and Andrew Cooper.

This copy is in Very Good ++ condition with some edgewear, a few scratches to the covers, a price tag remanent on the rear cover, and general wear from reading.

Black Sparrow Press titles can always be recognized as First Editions if the title page is on color (instead of black and white).

Even softcover first edition Bukowski titles from Black Sparrow Press have gone up significantly in value over the past several years as they become harder to find.
