A Bukowski Poetry Contest Broadside: Black Sparrow Press 1999
Bukowski 1, New Poets 0
That about sums it up.
I’m kidding, of course.
This broadside was created by Black Sparrow Press in 1999 to promote a poetry contest for aspiring writers. I only wish I could have read some of the entries,
“I’ll drink until I’m dead because women are horrible and nobody knows what a great writer I am...”
The contest was sponsored by Copperfield's Bookstore, the Independent newspaper of Soonoma County and Black Sparrow Press.
The broadside measures approximately 12.5’ x 9.25” and is printed in two colors.
It features a fun Charles Bukowski drawing of a bar scene and the poem, Wide and Moving. The poem would later appear in What Matters Most Is How Well You Walk Through the Fire (2002).
This is a really nice copy. It does have a single fold, but it is very light and would not be noticeable to the eye if framed. In Fine condition with corners sharp.
