This is a one-page, unsigned and undated manuscript by Charles Bukowski.
It features the poem Slump, which appeared in the book Septuagenarian Stew, published by Black Sparrow Press in 1990.
The manuscript does have one hand correction.
The poem was written at a time when Bukowski was suffering from tuberculosis. With the antibiotics, he couldn’t drink. And because it was contagious, he spent most of his time in bed, separated from the outside world, including the track. This put him in a writing slump at times and when he did write, the poems were often sullen.
Before appearing in Septuagenarian Stew, the poem was most likely sent to The Moment magazine but was not published there.
The manuscript will come with a letter of authenticity from The Buk Shop.
