Review Copy from Paget Press: Original Barfly Screenplay by Charles Bukowski (1984)

Published in 1984 by Paget Press (Sutton West), this is the original script for Barfly, preceding the Black Sparrow Press edition by three years.

In terms of the story line, roughly 80 percent of the dialog is the same as the final version. Most of the changes take place in the second half of the script.

This version contains 20 Charles Bukowski drawings of various events that happen in the book. To me, they are much more interesting to look at than the various pictures from the set of the movie that appeared in the later screenplay.

This is the hardcover trade edition from Paget Press, with an unknown number of copies produced.

This copy is in Near Fine condition with small bumps to the corners and some minimal edgewear to the black covers. Unfortunately, the review slip has a crease running diagonal across the sheet. The binding is tight.
