Los Angeles writer and long-time Bukowski associate Ben Pleasants writes about spending at day with Bukowski at Hollywood Park.
Bukowski rarely allowed people to accompany him to the horse races, but Pleasants had several times before and tt this point he was supposed to be writing Bukowski’s biography.
As Pleasants reveals, a day at the track with Bukowski is not a relaxing afternoon, it’s work. And Bukowski doesn’t like to be bothered while he’s working. Bukowski shares his rules for going to the track, which includes not drinking or falling for prostitutes.
Also includes the long poem, The Days Run Away Like Wild Horse Over the Hills.
