Pearl Fall/Winter 1993 – One Uncollected Charles Bukowski Poem

Published in December 1993 by Pearl Editions out of Long Beach, CA, the Pearl Fall/Winter 1993 issue featured the Charles Bukowski poem, A Note Upon the Masses.

The poem would later appear in Pearl’s Bukowski chapbook, Das Ist Alles, but has not been collected in any books.

Pearl was published by Joan Jobe Smith. She had what she says was a plutonic relationship with Bukowski, starting while he was still dating Linda King. She published Pearl for over 40 years and also published four issues of The Bukowski Review. She’s written several books on Bukowski, including her own memoir, Tales of an Ancient Go-Go Girl.
