Published in 1965, OLE No. 2 featured a classic Bukowski essay on poetics:

A Rambling Essay On Poetics And The Bleeding Life Written While Drinking A Six-Pack (Tall)

After Bukowski received overwhelming feedback on the essay, Bukowski agreed to attempt prose again resulting in his first two "chapbooks" of fiction: CONFESSIONS OF A MAN INSANE ENOUGH TO LIVE WITH BEASTS and ALL THE ASSHOLES IN THE WORLD AND MINE.

The essay would be published four more times, in the books A Bukowski Sampler (1969) as well as Portions from a Wine-Stained Notebook (2008), and in the journals Intermission Yearbook (1966) and Flash of Pasadena (1967).

This copy includes an uncommon flyer insert reflecting on OLE 1 and 2 and previewing OLE 3 and 4. The text is brimming with excitement from Blazek during these early years of OLE. 

Other contributors include Susan Gorbea, Steven Richmond, Duane Locke, Chas. Bukowski, Wm. Wantling, Dave Kelly, Larry Eigner, Walt Lowenfels, S.A. Osterlund, Jim Boyle, John Turpin, Harold Norse.

Ole was published by Doug Blazek, a fellow poet and early proponent of Bukowski’s work. They were friends and had a lengthy correspondence between 1964 to 1968. As with several other writers, the relationship ended abruptly after their first meeting in person.

Unfortunately this copy has a previous owner’s initials on the cover (perhaps someone stole his underwear on a sleepover as a kid). There is some browning to the covers, but the binding is solid and interior pages are clean.
