Released in 1987, Love Is a Dog From Hell is a three-act film based on the writings of Charles Bukowski, including a scene from Ham on Rye and the short story, The Copulating Mermaid of Venice, California.

In Europe, the film also goes by the more common title Crazy Love, depending on different international markets. The film follows the story of Harry beginning at 12 years old through age 30, primarily focusing on his coming-of-age sexual awareness to his complicated understanding of love.
Although some have called it a dramatic comedy, it was a little uncomfortable for me to watch when I first viewed it. If there is comedy, it’s the kind of European comedy you’d feel watching Das Boat.
Unexpectedly, the third part based on The Copulating Mermaid of Venice, California, is the most beautiful and (strangely) most uplifting part of the film. For those not familiar, it’s the story of two men who steal a young woman’s corpse and bring it to the sea for burial, where Harry makes love to her in the ocean.

Overall, the kit is in Near Fine-minus condition with a pencil note on the top right of the folder, some light wear to the folder and some light creases and browning to the interior pieces.
