This is a one-page, signed and dated manuscript by Charles Bukowski.
The poem would later appear in Come On In, published by ECCO and edited by John Martin in 2006.
As often is the case with posthumous Bukowski books edited by John Martin, a couple of changes were made to the poem when it was published.
In regard to the content of the poem itself, Bukowski did continue to submit his poems to magazines right up until his death in 1994. And yes, sometimes his poems were rejected.
The manuscript comes with a first edition hardcover copy of Come On In, where the poem appeared. It has an attractive wrap around band and is in fine condition.
The manuscript is in Near Fine condition with some rust from a paperclip that likely held several poems. It comes with a letter of authenticity from Scott Harrison of Abandoned Planet Bookstore. Harrison was a friend of Martin’s and has a strong reputation among Bukowski collectors for selling authentic manuscripts.
