Limited (#45/67) Reproduction of "A Signature of Charles Bukowski Poetry" As It Appeared in Targets 4, December 1960.
Back in 1987, Letters Bookshop in Toronto, Canada offered for sale Al Purdy's copies of "A Signature of Charles Bukowski Poetry" (Targets 4, December 1960) and "Charles Bukowski A Signature of Poetry" (Targets 15, September 1963) aka Signature 3.
As part of the sale, in 1987 the bookshop issued a faithful reproduction of Targets Signature 3 originally issued as a chapbook in Targets 15. Only 67 copies were made, this being #45/67. The chapbook has 20 pages and the following poems by Bukowski:
I Knew What The Tigers Said
Letter To A Small And Kindly Princess"
I Thought of Ships, Of Armies, Hanging On . . .
2 Flies
Answer To Some Sacramento Letters
Stop Drinking, Drinking, Drinking . . .
This copy is in Near Fine-plus condition with the hand-numbered 45 leaking through the front cover, presumably from when it was first inked. Else, some very light creases and wear to the cover.
Measures approximately 5.5” x 4”.
Although a reproduction, this booklet is still a true rarity.
