Intrepid Anthology -- Two Uncollected, Two First Appearance Charles Bukowski Poems (1976)
Published in 1976, Intrepid Anthology featured the Bukowski poems:
Another One Of My Critics
Overtime
The Girl Outside Of Strawberry Patch # One
The Police Helicopter
What’s interesting is that none of these poems don’t appear to have ever been published in Intrepid Magazine, so it’s odd they were part of an anthology. Perhaps these were leftover poems that never made the magazine.
Overtime and The Girl Outside Of Strawberry Patch # One have yet to be published again.
Another One Of My Critics and The Police Helicopter d later appear in The People Look Like Flowers At Last (2007).
Edited by Allen De Loach in New York (issues 1-5) and then Buffalo (issues 6-41), Intrepid (1964-1980) published a large number of poets directly and indirectly associated with the New American Poetry, and especially Beat writers. Contributors included a long list of such influential figures as Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, LeRoi Jones (Amiri Baraka), Philip Whalen, William Burroughs, Diane di Prima, Charles Bukowski, Ted Berrigan, Gary Snyder, Ted Enslin, and Charles Olson.
