Published in 1966, Intrepid 6 featured the Charles Bukowski poem:

Imperfection Says Grace

The poem has yet to be published again.

This copy says Second Printing on the cover, which is unusual for a poetry journal at this time.

Bukowski would appear in seven issues of Intrepid between 1966 and 1972.

Edited by Allen De Loach in New York (issues 1-5) and then Buffalo (issues 6-41), Intrepid (1964-1980) published a large number of poets directly and indirectly associated with the New American Poetry, and especially Beat writers. Contributors included a long list of such influential figures as Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, LeRoi Jones (Amiri Baraka), Philip Whalen, William Burroughs, Diane di Prima, Charles Bukowski, Ted Berrigan, Gary Snyder, Ted Enslin, and Charles Olson.

On the cover, it states this is a “2nd Printing” of this issue. It’s unusual that a poetry journal would produce a second printing.

A consistent issue with Intrepid was the length of the staples in the binding, due to the thick, textured covers. Sometimes the staples barely make it through the back cover, other times the staples don’t.

This copy is in Fine condition, with oxidized staples that make it through the back cover. Remnants of first attempt at stapling.

Overall, a beautiful copy of this important poetry journal.
