This is the German edition of the Charles Bukowski novel, Women. Bukowski’s original title for the book was “Love Tale of the Hyena”, which publisher Zweitausendeins decided to use.
This copy is inscribed by Spain Rodriguez, one of the original Underground Comix artists. Spain illustrated the cover eight interior drawings.
The front cover depicts a notorious argument Bukowski had with Linda King before they finally ended the relationship for good. The title page (also in color) shows an overweight Bukowski throwing up.
There are also seven black and white interior drawings. One drawing is a sex scene and the others are composed of individual portraits of women depicted in the novel. Each has a unique visual persona adapted from Bukowski’s descriptions in the book.
It’s a beautifully designed book with a stitched binding, cloth bookmark string, and a hardcover laminated jacket.
This copy is in Near Fine-minus condition with some light wear to the laminated jacket and a small bump on the right side of the cover near the title.
