Heaven Bone No. 9 -- First Appearance of Betting on the Muse by Charles Bukowski

Published in 1991, Heaven Bone No. 9, featured the Bukowski poem, Betting on the Muse.

In would later appear in the book by the same name in 1996, as well as The Laughing Heart (1996).

Contributors include Charles Bukowski, David Cope, Stephen-Paul Martin, Edward Mycue, Marge Piercy, Charlie Merhoff and others.

This copy is in Fair condition with water damage and wear to the black covers. Someone also used the magazine as a base to cut something with a blade, leaving a 5-inch cut through the first 18 pages of the magazine, including Bukowski’s poem.

Still, an important first appearance in this poetry journal edited by Steven Hirsch and Kirpal Gordon out of Chester, New York.
