This is a rare broadside – I’ve never seen another copy.
According to Abel Debritto, author of the landmark book A Catalog of Ordinary Madness, it was published in England in July 2000 by Kirk Lake.
According to Debritto:
“In the early 1990s, Bukowski sent several poems to Lake, who published them in his little magazine Twister, except for “Framed Stark Dead,” which was printed later as a broadside.
Debritto interviewed Lake, who told him:
“Mark [Scammell] did it as a letterpress project for his MA at the Royal College of Art. We only did 33 initialed/no’d copies, mostly handed out as gifts.”
I do not see an initial or number on this copy.
The broadside measures approximately “11.5” x 14.75”. As Lake stated, it was designed by Scammell and is a printed letterpress hand-screened in black and grey. The paper is relatively thin, leading to some wrinkles/creases along the top and bottom edge.
I’d rate it Very Good ++.
