Flyer for Michael Montfort Exhibition with Film Screening

This flyer is from Arundel Books, a great antiquarian bookseller with Bukowski works being one of their specialties.

The flyer is for an exhibit of Michael Montfort’s work, who was Bukowski’s personal photographer.

It was held at their shop on March 9^th, 2001. The flyer measures approximately 8” x 5.5”.

There are tiny bumps on the corners and light scratches to the glossy film used on the front.

I’d grade it Near-Fine-minus.

The flyer also mentions a screening of the film, “Bukowski’s Last Bet”.

I wasn’t familiar with the film, but I found it on YouTube. The plot is about a fellow poet who was friends with Bukowski. He’s having a really bad day when the ghost of Bukowski starts speaking to him from the heavens.

It runs about 15 minutes. I thought the choreography was well done, especially at a California racetrack – you get a sense of the people and scenes Bukowski saw around him out there. The musical score wasn’t half bad either.
