Fling November 1971 -- First Appearance of Short Story by Charles Bukowski: The Looney Ward (1971)

The November 1971 issue of Fling (Vol. 14, No. 5) features the first appearance of the Charles Bukowski short story, The Looney Ward.

This is the first appearance of the short story, which wouldn’t be collected in book form until The Bell Tolls for No One in 2015.

Magazine is in Very Good condition with water damage impacting the entire copy, some staining and general wear to the covers. Some creases on the interior pages as well.

Fling was another attempt to follow Hugh Hefner’s success. It was founded in 1957 by Relim Publishing Company out of Chicago. Bukowski short stories appeared in at least 10 issues of Fling between 1970-1986.
