Charles Bukowski Introduction to Al Masarik’s “Invitation to a Dying” with Book Announcement Flyer
This is another great book published by the legendary John Bennetta d his Vagabond Press.
Published in 1972, “invitation to a dying” is a selection of Al Masarik’s poems.
Masarik was a contemporary of Bukowski’s who was published in many of the same small poetry magazines during the 1970s. Bukowski also did a great drawing of Masarik in the Vagabond publication Six Poets.
Bukowski doesn’t skimp of the words in this four-page glowing review of Masarik’s work. You can read it in the images.
Because of the white covers, most copies are in much worse shape than this copy. This one is in Near Fine-plus condition with browning to the inside pages.
Also included is an uncommon announcement for the book from Vagabond Press. It features a Bukowski excerpt from the introduction and measures 1approximately 14” x 8.5”. Folded three time for inclusion in Vagabond magazine, there is browning and some creases to the edges.
As Bukowski conveys, these are great poems to be read.
