Not much Bukowski in this one other than a small review of a newly issues Poems and Insults CD.

The front cover of Beat Scene 21 features a photo of Jack Kerouac by Carolyn Cassady and the back cover features Richard Brautigan (photographed by Erik Weber for the 1976 Simon & Schuster edition of Loading Mercury with a Pitchfork). Contents include news sections ("NY Beats," "Beats & Co."), a piece on Jane Bowles, William Everson, and a "Beat Letter," plus features on William Burroughs and the conclusion of a three-part Neal Cassady profile. Other highlights include "Jack Kerouac: See You in Court," a piece on Ken Kesey associate Ken Babbs, coverage of Herbert Huncke, a "classic Beat interview" with the shadowy Sinclair Beiles, and the closing Beat Scene Reviews section. In his "First Words" note, editor Kevin Ring reflects on reader response to a prior Charles Bukowski tribute issue, teases new Bukowski books coming from Black Sparrow's John Martin, previews a big year ahead for Kerouac fans (including Some of the Dharma and forthcoming letters collections from Kerouac and Burroughs), and mentions a new Herbert Huncke release.

This copy is in Near Fine + condition with some light wear to the covers.
