Beat Scene 13 featured the first appearance of three Charles Bukowski poems:

• The Dangling Carrot
• The Nile Runs North
• Creative Writing Class

The Dangling Carrot would later appear in Bone Palace Ballet (1997)

The Nile Runs North would later appear in Open All Night (2000)

And Creative Writing Class would later appear in The Last Night of the Earth Poems (1992).

The cover features John Fante and the issue features interviews with Michael McClure, Robert Creeley, Ed Sanders, Ted Joans, and Charles Plymell. Also pieces on Richard Farina, Gerry Mulligan and Lawrence Ferlinghetti.

This copy is in Very Good ++ condition with some browning and wrinkles directly along the spine and some light wrinkles and wear to the covers.
