This is a one-page, signed and dated manuscript by Charles Bukowski.
The poem would later appear in “Come On In!”, published by ECCO and edited by John Martin in 2006, but the title was changed to "taking the 8 count".
The manuscript comes with a first edition hardcover copy of Come On In, where the poem appeared. It has an attractive wrap around band and is in fine condition.
Unfortunately, the manuscript has a visible crease on the lower right but is otherwise in perfect shape.
There is also a matching crease with the letter of authenticity, which is from Scott Harrison of Abandoned Planet Bookstore. Harrison was a friend of Martin’s and has a strong reputation among Bukowski collectors for selling authentic manuscripts.
I have not attempted to make the crease less visible, but there are ways to do it. Framing it may also make it less visible. Regardless, this is a great price for a manuscript.
The 1993 New Years Greeting arrived in excellent condition, exactly as described and even better than expected. The signature and drawing are beautiful, and the fact that it is copy #1/226 makes it even more special.
