Written by David Stephen Calonne, “On Some Early Bukowski Poems... The Genius Emerges” explores Bukowski’s childhood, the era he grew up in, and its influence on his early works.

Included are sections of poems that appeared in small poetry journals such Beloit Poetry Review, Hearse, Matrix, Naked Ear, and Quixote. As the 1960s wore on, Bukowski’s style would change, but the poems written during this period built the foundation for what was to come.

An excellent read for collectors and scholars alike.
