Earth 2 is as unique as Steve Richmond himself and quite uncommon to come across.

Published in 1966, it measures 14" x 8.5" and the rear cover was still cardboard, the material he used on many of his publications as well as two Bukowski collections.

Earth 2 feels more like a folio of Broadsides and that’s what Richmond probably intended.

The binding on this copy (and I assume all copies) is really tight, so I can’t provide photographs of interior pages without compromising the spine.

This issue features six poems and an essay:

3 Lovers
God I Got The Sad Blue Blues
I Am Read To
I Love You
In Defense Of A Certain Type Of Poetry. A Certain Type Of Life. A Certain Type Of Blood-Filled Creature Who Will Someday Die
The People
True Story

God I Got The Sad Blue Blues and I Am Read To have yet t be published again

3 Lovers later appeared in The Days Run Away Like Wild Horses Over The Hills (1969).

I Love You later appeared in Fire Station (1970).

In Defense Of A Certain Type Of Poetry. A Certain Type Of Life. A Certain Type Of Blood-Filled Creature Who Will Someday Die is an essay that wouldn’t be published again for 42 years until it appeared in Portions from a Wine-Stained Notebook (2008).

The People would later appear in What Matters Most Is How Well You Walk Through The Fire (1999).

True Story would later appear in At Terror Street and Agony Way (1968), Burning in Water Drowning in Flame (1974) and Essential Bukowski: Poetry (2016).

Because of the black covers, lots of edgewear is visible as well as a few scratches on the front cover. There are also bumps on all four sides. There are also three bumps on the rear cover. Because of the heavy cardboard used on the back cover, the interior pages look to be in Fine condition and are very vibrant.

This one doesn’t come around very often.
